Freelance Report: Canonn Responds to Thargoid Revelation
20 Jun 3303
Doctor Arcanonn of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group has issued a statement from the Gnosis concerning the recent discovery that the so-called Unknown Ships are in fact of Thargoid origin.
“Finally, the Thargoids have revealed themselves, moving from the shadows into the starlight. We cannot predict where this road will lead, but surely there is no way back. We stand at a precipice, staring into the abyss...yet we can take some comfort from the fact that humanity has faced this threat before and prevailed.”
“The first reports of Unknown Artefacts – riddles in space – now seem so long ago. How could we have known it would come to this?”
“Rest assured that should the worst happen, should governments fall and our civilisation be shaken to its very foundations, Canonn will stand against the darkness.”

Galactic News: Weekly Security Report
20 Jun 3303
This report presents the latest data on the security status of the galaxy’s minor factions.
Here are the latest factions to experience a lockdown:
Brotherhood of LP 98-132
Potriti Gold Mafia
Bhotho Rats
Cegreeth Citizens' Forum
Zeus Jet Organisation
Traditional Tofana League
New LTT 14094 Republic Party
Sirius Free
Rugabugait Shared
Chiccan Revolutionary Party
When a faction experiences a lockdown, the security rating of the system it controls temporarily increases and the system’s wealth temporarily decreases. Bounty hunting activity can shorten the lockdown period.
Here are the latest factions to experience civil unrest:
Ngaliba Blue Camorra
Wolf 359 Blue Travel Commodities
Green Party of Lung
United Wat Yu Confederacy
Nationalists of Aulin
LHS 535 Silver United Ltd
League of Chick Ek
Coalition of Djagana
Crimson Major Incorporated
League of Ross 1015
Civil unrest is the result of illegal activity. When a faction is affected by civil unrest, the standard of living in the system it controls temporarily decreases, as does the system’s wealth. Combat missions and activities can bring civil unrest to an end.
Galactic News: Galactic Leaders Address Thargoid Discovery
19 Jun 3303
The leaders of the galaxy's major powers have responded to news that the mysterious ships seen in the Maia system and Pleiades Nebula are Thargoid vessels.
Federal President Zachary Hudson released a characteristically forthright statement.
“Earlier this year, I said I would rather prepare for an attack that may not come than be met by an attack I did not prepare for. Well, the Federation has not been idle. For months, we have been expanding our Navy in preparation for just such a day. Some, such as Edmund Mahon, believe this is unnecessary. But perhaps Mr Mahon has not read the reports of Federal ships being attacked by Thargoid vessels. If the Thargoids want a fight, it’s a fight they’ll get.”
Addressing the media from the Imperial Palace on Capitol, Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval said:
“The facts are these: the Thargoids have highly sophisticated starships, they have a relationship with the organic constructs, and they have the means to remotely disable human spacecraft. In some quarters, these facts have given rise to concern. But I urge you not to panic. The human race has surmounted countless challenges in the past, and created a civilisation that spans hundreds of star systems. Do not be too quick to discount the human race.”
Finally, Alliance Prime Minister Edmund Mahon released the following statement:
“Our next steps must be taken with great care. Despite President Hudson’s claims to the contrary, there is no proof that the Thargoids have attacked Federal vessels. We must not assume the Thargoids are hostile. Theirs is clearly an intelligent and technologically sophisticated race. There is a great deal we could learn from them.”
Galactic News: Weekly Economic Report
19 Jun 3303
This report presents the latest data on the economic health of the galaxy’s minor factions.
Here are the latest factions to experience an economic boom:
Colanja Gold Power Services
Social Zaragas Independents
New 31 Aquilae Green Party
Ross 754 Labour
LTT 377 Purple General Corp.
G 41-14 Purple Travel Solutions
Kokary Holdings
Cemiess Commodities
Eravate Network
Laedla and Co
Boom is usually the result of consistent trade profit and completed trade contracts. When a faction experiences a boom, the wealth of the system it controls temporarily increases and trade missions completed in the system have double the effect on influence. The faction’s influence may also increase. Booms typically last until they naturally expire.
Here are the latest factions to experience an economic bust:
Nang Ta-khian Public Co
Lambda Hydri Jet Clan
League of 36 Ursae Majoris
Caraswang Gold Public Inc
h Draconis Resistance
Values Party of Orishpucho
Lambda Hydri Industry
Gyvatiges Citizen Party
Amun Public Co
Orishpucho Crimson Legal Int
When a faction experiences a bust, the wealth of the system it controls is temporarily reduced and the faction’s influence is temporarily diminished. Trade actions do not contribute to boom while a bust is active. A bust typically has to run its course before ending.
Galactic News: Weekly Expansion Report
17 Jun 3303
This report presents the latest data on expansion and withdrawal among the galaxy's minor factions.
Here are the latest factions to have expanded into new systems:
Leschanatya Future
LTT 3981 Purple Legal Limited
Earls of Primpo
Sokaram Citizens of Tradition
Revolutionary Eluskapu Partnership
Purple Universal Co
League of Wikmeang Party
Kherthaje Collective
HIP 68936 Partners
Bactrimpox Gold Society
Expansions occur when a minor faction reaches a sufficient level of influence and there is a populated system within striking distance. Expansion is costly, so when a faction expands, the wealth and development level of the system it controls are temporarily reduced.
Here are the latest factions in withdrawal:
Crimson State Group
HIP 13269 Silver Drug Empire
Dominion of Skadjalini
League of HIP 3509 Flag
HIP 111755 Citizens of Tradition
Movement for Pienate Labour
Bodharail Empire Party
CD-54 9671 Empire Group
Revolutionary Abazates Democrats
Flesk Transport Organisation
Factions are considered to be in withdrawal if their level of influence within a system drops below a certain level. If the faction's influence remains low for a total of five days, the faction must leave the system entirely. If the faction manages to increase its level of influence, it remains in the system.
Galactic News: The Thargoids have Returned
16 Jun 3303
Over the past few days, media streams have been abuzz with news that the so-called Unknown Ships are in fact Thargoid vessels, as many had speculated. The Federal Times, having spent several days confirming sources and authenticating reports, has now published an in-depth account of the events that led to the revelation.
It is understood that Professor Ishmael Palin, a leading authority on xenobiological research, determined the vessels’ origin by comparing data from the Unknown Ships with older Thargoid samples. Palin’s experiments resulted in conclusive proof that the Unknown Ships were Thargoid.
A short time later, Palin’s data was seized by Federal agents, who attempted to convey it to a Federal research facility. But in a shocking turn of events, the ship carrying the data was attacked en route to its destination. There is strong evidence to suggest the attack was executed by Thargoid vessels.
The incapacitation of the Federal vessel resulted in the information entering the public domain. But the cryptic nature of the data meant that The Federal Times was compelled to conduct further research before publishing its report.
In its story, The Federal Times also posited that the barnacles may be of Thargoid origin, given their relationship with the Thargoid ships. But it stopped short of suggesting a link between the Thargoids and the Unknown Probes and Artefacts, which many also believe to be nonhuman objects.
Meanwhile, the public mood was best summarised by Kelvin Masters, a freelance journalist, who contributed the following to the Rewired news feed:
“Look at the history books. Every time we’ve met the Thargoids, there’s bloodshed. We need to prepare for the worst. I mean, they’ve already attacked human ships! What kind of contingencies do the superpowers have in place? And what do we know about the Thargoids’ capabilities? What kind of weapons do they have? What kind of defences? And why did the Federation take Palin’s data? Were they trying to keep it quiet? These questions need to be answered!”
The leaders of the galaxy’s three superpowers are expected to make statements shortly.
Galactic News: Weekly Conflict Report
16 Jun 3303
This report presents the latest data on conflict among the galaxy’s minor factions.
Here are the latest factions to experience a civil war:
Ruchbah Industry
Zeessze Clan
Liberty Party of Zeessze
Ross 754 Universal and Co
Potriti Gold Mafia
Vanayequi Independents
AG+21 1754 Citizen Party
Junga Patron's Principles
Ngaledi Federal Corporation
Aymifa Resistance
Civil wars occur when minor factions compete for control of major assets such as starports. When a faction is involved in a civil war, the standard of living, development level and security level in the system it controls are temporarily reduced. Combat activities can bring a civil war to an end.
Here are the latest factions to experience war:
Avan Labour Union
Kokary Liberals
Fusang Fortune Commodities
HIP 73428 Exchange
Yakabugai Exchange
Eranin Peoples Party
Ololos Drug Empire
The Pilots Federation
Hatmehit Purple Crew
Independents of Mildeptu
Wars occur when a minor faction invades a star system controlled by another minor faction. For the duration of the war, the standard of living, wealth level and security level in the disputed system are reduced. Combat activity between the two warring factions determines the outcome of the conflict. If neither faction succeeds in dominating the other, the war ends in a ceasefire.
Community Goal: Further Superpower Expansion
15 Jun 3303
As the Empire and Federation continue to consolidate their presence in the Pleiades star cluster, both superpowers have announced new expansion initiatives centred in the region.
The Empire has declared its intention to bolster its Navy with a new Well-class Carrier, one of the largest vessels of its kind, while the Federation has announced plans to establish an asteroid base among the rings of HIP 17692 A4 in the HIP 17692 system.
Both superpowers have placed open orders for construction materials, promising to reward those who support their respective campaigns. The Merope Expeditionary Fleet has been authorised to coordinate the Imperial campaign, while the Pleiades Resource Enterprise has agreed to oversee the Federal initiative.
Both campaign begin on the 15th of June 3303 and will run for one week. If either superpower meets its targets earlier than planned, its campaign will end immediately.
Galactic News: Knights of Karma Appeal Concludes
15 Jun 3303
The Knights of Karma have announced that their plan to establish a new mining facility in the Qa’wakana system has been warmly received by the galactic community. The organisation’s targets for materials have been met, and work on the new facility is expected to start soon.
A spokesman for the Knights of Karma released a statement:
“This is a landmark day for the people of Qa'wakana. The cost of the construction materials will be recouped from the minerals mined at the new facility, and local markets will be able to realise their full potential. The pilots who assisted us have our everlasting gratitude.”
Pilots who contributed to the campaign can now collect their rewards from Carpini Terminal in the Qa’wakana system.
