Appeal for Crystalline Spheres Comes to an End
23 Dec 3301
Last week, the Hel Purple Energy Industry launched a public appeal for crystalline spheres to commemorate the upcoming winter solstice festival – a tradition from Earth's ancient past. Hundreds of independent pilots got into the spirit of the occasion, taking to their ships to deliver the requested commodities to Snow Moon in the Bento system. A spokesperson for the Hel Purple Energy Industry said:
"We're thrilled with how it's turned out, we really are. Some said this appeal didn't have a chance of succeeding, but the response from the galactic community shows that the winter solstice still means something to people. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to check on the turkey."
GalNet Weekly Powers Update Incoming
23 Dec 3301
In the early hours of tomorrow morning (7.00am GMT), the GalNet monitoring of powers' activities will go offline for a short period while the latest data is assembled.
Any pilots who operate for one of the powers must deliver any cargo or vouchers before this time to ensure their activities are registered.
The Search for the Antares
22 Dec 3301
3251 is remembered chiefly for the disappearance of the Antares, a technologically revolutionary passenger liner designed and built by the Sirius Corporation. The ship was supposed to usher in a new age in interplanetary travel, but the loss of the vessel during its maiden voyage tarnished the reputation of the Sirius Corporation and stalled the company's plans to develop further superfast liners.
The exact reason for the ship's disappearance has never been established, but a fragmentary status report, transmitted by the Antares moments before contact was lost, indicated that a component failure took place during the ship's first hyperspace jump. The failure resulted in a simultaneous explosion and mis-jump, leading many to assume that the ship had been destroyed. But no wreckage from the vessel has ever been found, and its precise fate remains unknown.
It seems, however, that the Sirius Corporation is not ready to close the file on the Antares. Today, Li Yong-Rui, CEO of the company's governmental division, announced that the organisation intends to launch an official search for the ship:
"Since the Antares was lost 50 years ago, there have been great advances in scanning technology, and we believe it may now be possible to find the remains of the ship. We are inviting every pilot in the galaxy to deliver wreckage components to our research base at Davy Dock in the Procyon system. Once we have accumulated enough material, we will subject the debris to comprehensive analysis to determine its origin. With luck, not only will we find the remains of the Antares, we will be able to determine her fate."
The search begins today.
GalNet Weekly Security Digest
22 Dec 3301
In this weekly report, the latest GalNet data is assembled to present ten minor factions experiencing civil unrest or lockdown in their systems.
Here are 10 of the 1,626 minor factions in lockdown:
Revolutionary Party of Wichaimi
Kinne Blue Boys
LP 417-213 Power Solutions
Lovedu Blue Major Inc
HIP 15587 Free
Niamara Electronics Services
Kui Hsien General Ltd
Natural Contien Movement
Renssen Construction
Barann Fortune Interstellar
Lockdowns increase the security rating for a system but also have a negative effect on the system's wealth. Increased bounty hunting activity can shorten the lockdown period.
Here are 10 of the 1,550 minor factions experiencing civil unrest:
Yimanbin Nationalists
KUI 11 Crimson Natural Org
Friggi Independent Union
UBV 15076 Jet Bridge Partners
Barons of Coringha
Orishanann Crimson Allied Net
BD+47 2391 Silver Central Org
Ba Xian Netcoms Co
No Chique Blue Allied Exchange
Cemiess Purple Council
Civil unrest is caused by illegal activity within the system as well completing contracts from more nefarious sources. The wealth rating and standard of living will suffer when a system contains civil unrest. Combat missions and activities can be utilised to end civil unrest.

Clauss Incorporated Issues Appeal
22 Dec 3301
The Clauss Incorporated organisation, a galaxy-wide distributor of luxury commodities, has issued a public appeal for Special Gifts. The company CEO, Nicolas St Clauss, has released a statement to the media, which is reprinted in full below:
"We at Clauss Incorporated specialise in bringing joy to the people of this vast and wonderful galaxy. But fulfilling the hopes and dreams of so many is a difficult task, and this year we're experiencing increased demand for Special Gifts. So we're asking all you talented pilots to help us by transporting Special Gifts from Frost Dock in the Njambalba system to Clauss Port in the Santa Muerte system. We're willing to offer generous financial incentives to those who help, and we'll even be giving new ships to novice pilots who contribute to our appeal*."
"Sincerely,
Nicolas St Clauss"
"*Terms and conditions: New ships will only be offered to pilots who have logged between 3 and 10 hours total flight time. The type of ship offered will depend on the total number of Special Gifts brought to Clauss Port, so please dig deep for your fellow pilots!"
The Canonn Supports Palin's Effort
21 Dec 3301
Professor Ishmael Palin has requested help in establishing a new research base on Maia B1BA in order to safely study the unknown artefacts. Dr Arcanonn, head of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group, has issued a statement regarding this endeavour:
"I cannot argue with the logic of establishing a research facility out in the Pleiades, next door to Merope, and I urge all Commanders to deliver as many Evacuation Shelters as they can to Nelson Works in Dahan to ensure this facility is completed."
"With the Canonn throwing its resources at this initiative, I will be contacting the professor personally to request laboratory space for my researchers so that we, too, can be involved once the base is established."
"Research into the UAs is not a side project for humanity - it is vital. Make sure you're one of those making a difference."
Commander Lord Zoltan
Technical Issues Spread to Maia
21 Dec 3301
Following last week's report that the technical issues currently plaguing the galaxy had spread to Gabriel Enterprise in Harma, authorities at the starport have announced that all services have been suspended apart from docking and shipyard access. Meanwhile, authorities in the Maia system have confirmed that the starport of Obsidian Orbital is the latest to experience mysterious technical issues. This announcement will no doubt disappoint those who contributed to the construction of Obsidian Orbital earlier this year.
We will continue to bring you up-to-the-minute reports on this issue.
GalNet Weekly Economic Report
21 Dec 3301
In this weekly digest, the latest GalNet data is compiled to show the economic state of a short list of minor factions and the star systems they inhabit.
Here are 10 of the 10,971 minor factions currently enjoying an economic boom:
HIP 16365 Commodities
LHS 2884 Dominion
Ingamba Emperor's Grace
Liberals of G 165-13
Wolf 225 Federal Industry
Tapany Netcoms Systems
League of Itza
Petra Camorra
Labour Union of HIP 97950
Segontiaci Imperial Society
When in boom, the wealth of a system is increased for the duration and all trade missions have double the effect on influence. Boom can also positively increase a minor faction's influence. Boom can be entered by consistent trade profits and completed trade contracts. Booms tend to last until they naturally expire or until some other indicator takes precedence, such as famine.
Here are 10 of the 1,420 factions currently experiencing economic bust:
Korazotz Boys
United Tellus Order
Ross 346 Crimson Electronics
Revolutionary Party of Diaguandri
Potriti Flag
TZ Arietis Purple Council
Narakapani One
Apurui Citizens' Forum
HIP 51197 Central Services
Kruger 60 and Co
The wealth of a system diminishes while in bust and the minor faction's influence is also lessened. The effect of trade contracts and actions do not contribute to boom while a bust is active. A bust generally has to run its course before ending.
Data is correct at time of publishing.
GalNet Weekly Expansion List
19 Dec 3301
Each week, GalNet presents a list of 10 of the 1,596 minor factions currently expanding into new systems.
Labour of Seleru Bao
Borfor Democrats
Tjalkond Progressive Party
Integrated Kurutas
Esuseku Corporation
Cashikori Citizens' Forum
HIP 117865 Empire Pact
Boveltibes Progressive Party
Order of Ch'i Ling
Guuguyni Empire Consulate
Expansion occurs when a minor faction reaches a sufficient influence rating and there is a populated system within striking distance. The act of expansion is a costly one, and the wealth and development rating suffers during the period of expansion.
Data is correct at time of publishing.
GalNet Weekly Conflict Report
18 Dec 3301
This weekly transmission lists some of the systems currently in conflict around the galaxy, based on the latest data.
Here are 10 of the 12,026 minor factions involved in a civil war:
United b Herculis Resistance
b Herculis Fortune PLC
Conservatives of Garrinbatz
Garrinbatz Crimson Camorra
Ixbalan Network
Ixbalan Purple Brotherhood
Autocracy of Chuquiba
Chuquiba Gold Drug Empire
HIP 44811 Gold Life Ltd
Osci Gold Legal Corp
Civil wars involve conflict between minor factions in the same system over ownership of major assets such as starports. During civil wars, only combat missions and activities help bring the conflict to a resolution. Security, development level and standard of living indicators all drop for the duration of the civil war.
Here are 10 of the 5,324 minor factions at war:
Smethells 173 Empire Party
Pien Ek Creative Interstellar
HIP 23027 Jet Ring
BPM 28514 Collective
Shenggan Transport Corporation
Naebin Jet General Company
Union of Shalatucas Left Party
Lie Zhonpon Vision Incorporated
Kapura Mob
Co-operative of Wikalar
Wars occur when a minor faction invades another star system. For the duration of the conflict, wealth, security and standard of living are all severely impacted. Combat missions and activities determine who wins the war. If no winner emerges, the war ends in a ceasefire.
